The Channel Gardens in New York City, NY

The Channel Gardens form a flowery path between the British Empire Building and the Maison Française. The name is obviously a derivative of their location. The Channel Garden sits in Midtown West New York City bordering on the famous Rockefeller Center. You can view the renowned tree in Rockefeller Plaza during the Christmas season. The glowing and flashing lights illuminate this laneway. At one end, in the Lower Plaza, you can view the statue of Prometheus rising above the skating rink.
The Garden is a refuge from concrete walls and towering buildings. If you step outside of the many stores and business that line its walkway, you enter this world of art, relaxation and simple beauty. For the cost of the transportation to reach it, you can wander its length, window-shopping, or sit on one of the many benches and watch the people stroll or dash by. You can also sit and admire the pools and the flora that grace its length and breadth.
The flowers in the Channel Gardens change with the seasons. They surround the 6 pools along its route. They back up the benches and mingle with the various pieces of art. This inviting place is a showcase for many installations, including Thunder Rock by Isamu Nogushi. Such art displays in front of the Rockefeller Center provide as much of a draw to some tourists as do the many shops along the way.
